Croatia Completes Construction of Peljesac Bridge

The final section of the Peljesac bridge, which connects lower Dalmatia and the tourism hub of Dubrovnik with the rest of Croatia, was put into place on 29 July 2021. When the bridge is open to motor traffic it will reduce travel time between Zagreb and Dubrovnik by two hours.

The Peljesac bridge’s construction was financed by a 350 million-plus Euro grant from the European Union, which covered an estimated 85 percent of construction costs. Actual construction was carried out by the China Road and Bridge Corporation, which provided both the quickest and the least costly construction bid in a publicly-held tender held in the latter half of 2018.
